To be Free ‘in’ the world you must first be Free ‘of’ the world.
The world is a dream that the ONE SELF - in ITs slumbering state, believes is real. Through the belief in separation this dream came into being since separation produces the illusion of time and space … a ‘from here to there’ phenomena. Accepting this illusion as real draws to one many ‘attachments’ to this and that … some of which one ‘identifies’ with as ‘part’ of what they call an ‘individual’ state called ‘me’ … such as: “I am an accountant or lawyer or plumber”, “I have a spouse and three children”, “I have a university degree”, “I am a Christian, Muslim or Buddhist’ - the list is very long for most.
These are the ties that ‘bind’ one ‘to’ the world-dream making the chains almost invisible despite the heavy weight humanity always feels upon its shoulders - to one degree or another. True Freedom, Real Freedom requires that every ‘tie’ be severed with the world - not the actual thing or experience, but the ties ‘to’ them. Then … as our beautiful brother said:
“Behold, I have overcome the world”.
