ONE-POINTED-NESS

JOHN MCINTOSH

Whatever practices [if any] that you resonate with in the moment, are meant to ultimately bring you to ‘one-pointed-ness’ where vigilance becomes your norm. The seductive distractions of the Grand Dream have had eons to become entrenched and the conditioning manifested as a result surrounds your Awareness of Truth in a heavy fog like the deep sleep produced by the witch’s curse in Sleeping Beauty [Who You Really Are]. To brush these clouds aside so that it becomes possible to focus steadily on Truth requires the one-pointed-ness faculty.

None of the multitude of practices available bring one to the Self Realized state … they are the ropes the climber uses to reach this level of consistent focus on Self Inquiry. When a particular spiritual discipline is in effect, some can indeed offer vignettes of Truth as a temporary experience, however once the practice subsides the world manifested from one’s conditioning re-asserts itself. Self Inquiry however, will force the false self back into the SELF from which it arose where it will dissolve … revealing only the SELF or Truth You Really Are.

“Other than Self Inquiry, there are no adequate means to make the mind ‘permanently’ subside.” – Ramana
