WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT YOU?

JOHN MCINTOSH

What people think about you [anyone] is one of the most predominant issues that occupies the mind of the false self. A sense of self worth/esteem directly effects one’s life expressions when they believe they are something called a ‘person’ … a body-mind-identity with a beginning and an ending. Image is therefore extremely important to most as can be seen everywhere from how one dresses and adorns the body cosmetically, to the importance of one’s education and occupation, to the attention or lack of attention that friends, family and relatives pay them [good or bad]. Being ‘seen’ validates one’s existence, which precludes ‘how’ they are seen since ‘being nothing’ [ceasing to exist] is the false self’s greatest fear.

Enormous energy and attention is therefore paid to this image, which is a phantom with no ‘real’ existence. It is one of the greatest causes of suffering humanity experiences, underpinned by the primary cause - the belief in separation.

The solution is the desolation ‘of’ this illusory entity but again … there is no greater fear than ceasing to exist … being Nothing. And yet, Nothing-ness [being Empty] is the evidence of the ONE SELF You Really Are and therefore the greatest ‘unknown friend’ you have. For this you must be totally ‘fed-up’ with the dance of masks on the stage of dreams - then … Self Inquiry/Surrender is the direct route HOME.
