AVOIDING FREEDOM

JOHN MCINTOSH

The prospect of ‘standing in the fire of who you are NOT’ is definitely not appealing to the false-self-body-mind-identity or the ‘me’ concept that most believe they are. Even when life begins to become a significant challenge in one or more of the myriad of ways that it can be, this fire is avoided in three main ways: “distracting, running and sedating”. These are the conduits through which the false self identity ‘stalls’ its eventual and inevitable return to the full Awareness of Who It Really Is. The dream world offers limitless ways to accomplish this and the current sound-byte-attention-span fostered by the expansion of the high-tech phenomena of the last few decades makes it very simple to divert attention away from one’s Freedom.

You must have an ‘overwhelming passion’ to burn away the conditioning that defines this imitation-SELF before the vigilance to stand in this fire is strong enough to withstand the temptations of remaining ignorant. When this moment arrives it can feel like you are losing your mind and that is precisely what is occurring … the control it has had to rule your roller coaster existence is crumbling. Take heart - it is a glorious meltdown of illusions that is taking place.
