Temporary is the shadowed
Backdrop of the world stage
Fleeting moments of pain and anguish
Then, peaceful hours of silent grace
We cling to both
And in agony we hope for
The lighter minutes to stay
And the dark to fade
But temporary is the Light
Mingled with the dark
Enticing and foreboding
The dance sways on and on
Those immersed in the play
Suffer, then gaily laugh
As the merry-go-round
Swirls in endless loops
The dance pulls us
This way and that
Until finally …
We leave the stage
And from our lofty balcony perch
We decline the game’s allure
And watch in silent knowing …
It was all just a dream
