THE ADDICTION OF THE STORY

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

JOHN MCINTOSH

The mind ‘craves’ drama, the happy ‘and’ the sad. In the contrast that results between, there is a sense of being alive. The hero, the martyr, the leader, the victim … the bitter-sweet, combined fills the archives of global history … every success oriented goal, every world-changing objective, every story that is laden with the roller coaster of happiness and sorrow in potential – none lead to what is REAL. The vignettes of peace, the moments of bliss, the fleeting experiences of the sublime … always come to an end, such is the play of time and space within the delusion of separation.

One must come to a crossroads where these repeating stories are questioned, where the feeling – ‘enough is enough’ rings constantly in the inner ear. Then it is possible to glimpse the Grand Dream … as a ‘witness’, off the stage of the illusion of story/dramas. There, a tiny SHIFT in Awareness may turn one’s attention toward the Real, but usually it takes jolt after jolt to shake one free of the ‘addiction’ to the constant replay-button that keeps them in the loop of the world-dream.

That shaking has been on overdrive for many months now and as challenging as life ‘is’ for many, the SHIFT that is occurring is enormous, benign and filled with Love.
